I have a vested interest in our town. I live here. That’s why I cannot bear to see our town centre in decline.
Through countless survey responses and house meetings, you told me that the rejuvenation of Bournemouth town centre was your top priority.
Thanks to your input, the Build Bournemouth Back campaign began.
We held the first ever Town Centre Summit in December. The Libdem Council Leader appointed me Chair of the local Town Centre Taskforce in February.
Together, we shifted the focus to our town.

Positive changes are underway. I’ve secured Government money to get a bespoke chewing gum removal machine.
We are on the cusp of a scheme with the Department for Communities and Local Government to open up the ground floors of some of the department stores, so we can get a feel more like Westbourne.
New hanging baskets are going up thanks to the Town Centre BID.
New bins are being installed in to replace the old tatty ones.
I’m in conversations with BT to remove run-down phone boxes, which are magnets for anti-social behaviour.
And I’m challenging the police to get the 174 new uniform, warranted officers recruited since 2019 onto the streets here in the town centre.
HELP ME DO MORE AFTER JULY 4TH
I am convinced that, with the natural gift of the beach and the sea, we can give our town centre a new lease of life.
But above all, it needs to be cleaner and safer.
That has been, and will continue to be my number one priority. Not just if I’m re-elected as your Member of Parliament, but as a resident who lives and cares for his community.
I will leave you with this question - could all of the above been done by someone who lives in Soho, like the Labour candidate?
Thank you.
