Bournemouth & Poole College is submitting plans for a £45million transformation of its Lansdowne campus into a learning environment suitable for the next 25 years.
Amongst the proposals are hair and barbering salons, beautician rooms, a new restaurant and associated professional kitchens, a sports hall and gym facility, flexible-use classrooms and IT rooms. There would also be CGI suites and social areas for students, as well as improvements to the outdoor spaces to create a campus atmosphere.
The proposals have been brought forward following investment from the government’s FE Capital Transformation Fund. The Department of Education (DfE) funding will be used to improve much of the Lansdowne campus educational facilities.
Conor recently visited the College to meet students and the new College Principal, Phil Sayles. Speaking after his visit Conor said, “This multi-million pound investment will transform not just the look of the Lansdowne campus but also the quality of training on offer to our local young people. Further Education has for too long been under-funded but this changes everything. The College plans are an important part in providing skilled young people to work in our local economy. This work will ensure that remains the case for decades to come.”
