The Oak Academy school has won a multi-million pound award from the Government for a complete rebuild of the school’s outdated campus.
Conor Burns recently invited the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to come to Kinson and see the plans for the work on the Duck Lane site. Conor has been lobbying for many years to have the site added to the school improvement programme having secured funding for capital building projects over the years for the Bourne Academy and St Aldhelm’s secondary schools. He has also welcomed news of capital investment in Winchelsea School.
Conor visited Oak Academy recently to discuss progress on the project with the school’s leadership team, the team from the Department for Education and local planning officers. Speaking after his visit he said, “This is brilliant news for the Kinson and West Howe communities and wider Bournemouth. The young people are so excited to see how much we are investing in their school community. I’d delighted that years of pushing for this has paid off and I look forward to seeing the building works start very soon.”
