Conor visited Tesco Kinson where the Kinson and West Howe Food Bank were collecting donations from supportive shoppers.
The project was seeded by the Trussell Trust who have grow food banks nationally from their established base in Salisbury. Volunteers collect donations, which are then sorted at the warehouse ensuring that no out of date damaged goods are included in the food donated to those in need. Clients are given vouchers by professionals such as doctors, health care workers, Citizen’s Advice staff, the police, probation officers, which they can exchange for food where volunteer staff with sit and chat and if needed given advice of other agencies who can give them additional support.
