Our campaign to save Bournemouth Station ticket office succeeded today as the Government announced it would be rejecting railway operators’ plans to close ticket offices nationwide.
Following concerns raised by constituents about the impact of ticket office closures - not just on the elderly and the disabled, but on all customers of the 168 million journeys bought from a ticket office last year - I raised our worries directly with South Western Railway and the Government.
Today, Bournemouth West has been heard, and our ticket office will be staying open. I am grateful to all constituents who contacted me on this issue.
