This week, the Home Office announced that fifty asylum accommodation contracts with hotels will be terminated by the end of January. In a statement to the House of Commons, the Immigration Minister confirmed that the Government's efforts to stop illegal English Channel crossings were starting to have an effect, allowing for these terminations. I was pleased to learn that this included one hotel in Bournemouth West, although several hotels in our area still remain contracted to housing asylum seekers. My message to the Immigration Minister was clear - residents and businesses of Bournemouth want all our hotels back.
